Superior Court Associate Judge Ramona V. Manglona yesterday ordered a security guard to spend four years in prison for robbing a poker arcade in western Garapan.

Manglona sentenced Alex-ander Reyes Cana to 10 years in prison, all suspended except for four years, without the possibility of parole, for robbery and kidnapping.

Following a plea agreement, Manglona gave the defendant credit for the 162 days he had already served in jail.

After completing his prison term, the 47-year-old Cana will be placed on 10 years probation.

Manglona directed the defendant to pay $25,342.50 in restitution to L&T Corp., owner of the Fun & Games Poker, and write a letter of apology to the company and its cashier, Nilda Sisons.

Manglona required the defendant to submit to counseling evaluation at the Community Guidance Center.

During the probationary period, Cana is prohibited from consuming any alcoholic beverages.

The Attorney General’s Office charged Cana with robbery and kidnapping in September 2005. Cana and his counsel, assistant public defender Adam Hardwicke, signed a plea agreement with the government, represented by assistant attorney general Will Bierman.

Cana pleaded guilty to the charges.

The plea agreement stated that on Sept. 13, 2005 the defendant confined Sisons for a substantial period to facilitate the robbery at Fun & Games Poker.

Cana entered the cashier’s booth and forced Sisons into the bathroom where he locked her in by wiring the door shut.

The defendant took $25,342.50 from the cashier’s booth, court papers said.

Police arrested Cana that evening.

Investigators learned that Cana was on duty as security guard at Fun and Games when he suddenly pulled the cashier, Sison, into the bathroom where he locked her. She climbed out the window then looked for help, police said.
