February dates at GES
February is gearing up to be a stimulating month at the Garapan Elementary School, full of academic activities that will keep everyone busy.
This month the school emphasizes the MegaSkill of Initiative and the ESLR “Resource Seeker.” February is also Math and Science Awareness Month at GES, so these skills will be all the more useful for its students to learn.
* Feb. 23: PTA meeting @ 6:30pm, cafeteria
In addition, Boys/Girls soccer tryouts and practice will begin, as well as preparations for the Academic Challenge Bowl. Your child will be busy with Math & Science projects. The 3rd Grade Project Familia lessons will begin for those families involved in learning how to stay strong and healthy. The African American Cultural Preservation Committee will be visiting our school to teach students about Black History. We have entered the DEQ Recycling Contest this month, so if you have any recyclable materials that you’d like to donate in our name, bring it to the transfer station and tell them its for Garapan Elementary School. You can also help us raise much needed funds by eating pizza for Valentine’s Day (25 percent of the profit will go to us) and by clipping BoxTops for your child to turn in. Thank you to Java Joe’s and Pacific Amusement for their Education Tax Credit donations of $2,000 and $5,000.
For more information on any of the above, call the school at 237-3341, or send an email to gomezy@pss.cnmi.mp.
