Mobil pushed back to end of February
Because of the unavailability of the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium, the 2006 Mobil Mariana Islands Invitational Co-ed Basketball League has been moved to the end of February.
Mobil cage league coordinator Abner Venus said because of the current 2006 Inter-Government Basketball League, which plays Mondays through Thursday at the Oleai Sports Complex venue, the only co-ed basketball league will have to postpone its start to a couple of more weeks.
Venus said the two-week delay would give the participating teams—defending champion Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan (formerly Dai-Ichi Hotel Saipan Beach), Hyatt Regency Saipan, Microl Corp., Commonwealth Utilities Corp., Commonwealth Ports Authority, McDonald’s, host Mobil, newcomer Saipan Ice & Water Co., and the CNMI Women’s National Team—more time to practice plays and prepare for the league.
The Mobil crown was also previously worn by Tan Holding Corp. (2001), Microl (2002), PDI (2003), and Aqua Resort Club (2004).
