Fourteen women gathered at the Aquarius Penthouse last Saturday to attend the first rehearsal for the Vagina Monologues.

The Vagina Monologues is a theater piece of women reading women’s stories. Some stories are horrific, some sassy, some funny and many that all women can relate to such as the different reactions to getting their first period.

During Saturday’s rehearsal, the women were given the piece specifically picked out for them. They then read their pieces in the order they will be presented to give everyone a sense of the show’s lineup.

The “Off the Beaten Path” Organization, a newly formed non-profit organization, is the main sponsor of this event. The main goal of the event is to raise awareness to stop violence against women and girls.

Proceeds of the shows, which is scheduled on March 24 and 25 at the American Memorial Park Auditorium, will be donated to Guma Esperansa and the Justice for the Comfort Women Campaign.

Tickets for the show is $15 and is now available by contacting Fran Castro at francastro@pticom.com. (PR)
