’06 Hyundai Sonata top prize in Las Vegas Night
The Rotary Club of Saipan’s Las Vegas Night is all set for tomorrow night, from 7pm to 12am, at the Aqua Resort Club.
Rotary president James Whitt said proceeds from tomorrow’s event would directly support the club’s several charitable projects.
Whitt said the club is aiming to raise $30,000 in gross sales and at least $10,000 to $15,000 in net income from the Las Vegas Night.
“Whatever we raise, it goes back to the community,” he said.
The club has already given away more than $30,000 in cash and check donations to the local community during his term, Whitt said.
Some of the club’s contributions include: $12,000 to the Saipan Southern High School Manta Ray Band for new musical instruments and equipment; $4,000 to Kagman High School and Marianas High School for their vocational education programs; and $4,000 to various public and private elementary and junior high schools to support their literacy programs during Rotary’s Parade of Books Project.
Other contributions, according to Whitt, were: $3,750 for the Rotary’s Youth Basketball Program; $2,000 to support the CNMI man’amko; $1,500 for the Rotary’s tree planting activities to beautify the island; and, $1,000 to the fire victims on Saipan last year.
Whitt reiterated that the proceeds for tomorrow’s event would be earmarked for “other projects in the community.”
Whitt, together with past Rotary president Ed Salas, fellow Rotarians Jay Jones and Eli Stoilova, checked out the brand new Hyundai car at the Triple J Motors showroom along Beach Road. The brand new car will be the grand prize for tomorrow’s event.
Tickets for Las Vegas Night are still sold at $5 each or $20 per booklet of five tickets. Prizes at stake are $500 for 4th prize, $1,000 for 3rd and 2nd prize and $2,500 for 1st prize.
The grand prize—a 2006 Hyundai Sonata GL—will be given away tomorrow night. Other raffle prizes will also be drawn every 30 minutes.
Games of chance like Black Jack, Poker, Roulette, Craps, and Bingo will be the highlight of the evening.
Last year’s Las Vegas Night grand prize went to Lynnie Meriveles, an administrative assistant, who took home a brand new 2005 Toyota Camry during the event held in June 2005.
