Infant in child seat unscathed in head-on collision

An infant secured in a child seat was unhurt when a pickup truck and a car collided head on near the Kagman intersection on Sunday night, police said yesterday.
Maj. Edward H. Manalili, chief of the Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Investigation Bureau, said the infant was in a child seat at the rear of the car.
Manalili said two persons were injured in the accident that happened along the back road south of the Kagman intersection at 6:50pm. Two other children were also slightly hurt.
Investigation showed that a northbound red Toyota Tacoma suddenly encroached on the southbound lane, colliding head on with a white Hyundai Elantra that was traveling south.
The driver of the Hyundai, an Asian woman, sustained a fractured right wrist and lower leg and lacerations to the leg and face. The unhurt infant was her passenger.
The driver of the truck was not injured but his passenger, an eight-year-old boy who was sitting in the truck’s bed, sustained a fractured leg. The two other children sitting on the truck’s bed complained of pain in the shoulder, neck and head.
Both vehicles sustained extensive damage, according to Manalili, who is also the acting DPS spokesman.
The victims were brought to the Commonwealth Health Center for treatment.
