Global Eyes to perform free concert on Rota
The Specified Non-Profit Inc. Global Eyes of Japan has put together a benefit concert for the people of Rota, scheduled for Feb. 16, 6:30pm, at the Rota Round House.
Jun Nagasawa, a Japanese singer and president of Nagasawa Kikaku Corp. of Japan, and Anzai Maria, a singer and a representative of Japan Popps World, will be performing in an open concert for the people of Rota.
In a letter to Rota Mayor Joseph Inos, Nagasawa indicated that about 30 members of Club Tourism, Global Eye, Media Apple and Nagasawa Kikaku Corp. from Japan would be visiting Rota from Feb. 15 to 16, led by Etsuji Nakamura, representing Specified Non-Profit Inc. Global Eyes of Japan.
“As part of this visit, in the interest of promoting Rota, we are planning to hold a concert on Feb. 16 for all to enjoy, including the local community,” Nagasawa stated.
“This arrangement was started by former Mayor Benjamin T. Manglona and we appreciate his enthusiasm to promote our beautiful island,” Inos said. “Also, we welcome Mr. Nakamura’s and Nagasawa’s desire to advertise Rota as an alternative destination for the people of Japan; and we look forward to working with them.”
Besides Nakamura, Nagasawa and Maria, others visiting Rota are Takeuchi Keiji, owner of a hotel, bridal hall, school etc., listed company in the Tokyo Stock Exchange market; Ikka Akinari, owner of a cosmetic manufacturing company; Yamanaka Motsue, chairman of a health supplement company; Kusano Mitsuo, RAMRN restaurant owner, with over 800 shops in Japan; and Takagi Kazuo, Tokai area’s biggest game center owner.
The group, through a memorandum of agreement executed by the former administration, the Department of Commerce, and Nakamura agreed to foster public relations, friendship, cooperation, and understanding between the people of Rota and the people of Japan.
In addition, the MOA stated that, with the use of Internet technology, there will be a sharing of information on the cultures and traditions, community projects and activities, planned developments, resources identification, training programs, business opportunities, tourism initiatives and all other areas of mutual interest to the people of Rota and Japan.
“This is a positive development of which Mayor Inos has inherited. As the chairman of the Economic Recovery Task Force, I intend to be an active partner on this endeavor and nurture its development. Rota, as well as the entire CNMI can only benefit through this associated,” said Pete Q. Dela Cruz.
“Of course, we must review existing MOA and make amendments so that Mayor Inos’ socio-economic vision as well as the Economic Recovery Task Force’s recommendations are incorporated in the MOA,” he added. (PR)
