Bartender tourney looking for participants
The Northern Marianas Bartenders Association is now accepting application for participants in their upcoming Bartender Cocktail Competition dubbed “Sauza Tequila Challenge.”
The competition is slated on March 4 at the Aqua Resort Club.
Association president Lito Espino said the group is inviting all amateur and professional bartenders in the CNMI to participate in what promises to be one of most exciting bartending tournaments in the Commonwealth.
Espino said two participants from each company are allowed to join the contest but they would not be allowed to wear any identifying outfit such as uniforms that would give away the names or identity of their respective companies. They will be requested to don islandwear black pants and shirts.
Criteria and mechanics of the contest, said Espino, include allowing the participants to use the free pouring technique on alcoholic ingredients. The participants are also discouraged to use concocted ingredients for the competition such as ice cream, chocolate syrup and others.
“All recipes must include Sauza Tequila drink and all mixes must be MARPAC and Coca Cola products only,” said Espino.
The winning bartender will be judged based on originality, taste, showmanship, neatness and audience impact.
A total of six awards will be given on the contest night: Best in Presentation, Best in Taste, Best in Show, 3rd Runner up, 2nd Runner Up and the Champion.
The top three winners will also receive trophy and medals, including one medal for the recipient of the Best in Show award.
