Chiefs take two from Indians
The Chiefs scored consecutive wins over the Indians in the ongoing Budweiser-Bud Light Bowlliards Tournament at the USSP Club in Garapan.
The Chiefs were on fire this past Monday and scored their second consecutive win after outscoring their opponents, 69-55.
The Chiefs had to work from behind in the early goings as Mei Rengiil of the Indians pocketed all her balls for a strike in the first frame.
The game turned, though, as Bern Ikeda and Reek Rengiil shouldered a comeback with consecutive strikes for the Chiefs in the second and third frames.
With Ikeda, Rengiil, and Rose Phillips having their sweet touch on the cue ball working for them, the Chiefs were able to build a double-digit lead and held on until the end of the bout.
Ikeda wound up finishing with a game-high 26 points, while Rengiil and Phillips pocketed 16 points apiece. Marvin Baulechong and Neil Borja also contributed nine and two points.
Mei Rengiil led the Indians with 19 points, while Chris Chlarson and Andrew Kapileo supported with 14 and 10 points, with Kapileo hitting a strike in the final frame. Taylor Watanabe and John Mongami also had seven and five points for the squad.
Last Jan. 30, the Chiefs rode on Ikeda’s strike to beat the Indians, 53-47.
Ikeda was right on target with his shots on the sixth frame to spearhead the Chiefs’ attack.
Local musician Ace Elameto put up a strong response as he also pocketed all his balls in the eighth frame for the Indians.
Ikeda led the Chiefs with 19 points, while Mongami and Ron Chisato contributed 14 and eight points. Reek Rengiil and Annie Tesiro added seven and five points.
Elameto finished with a team-high 19 points to lead the Indians, while Watanabe and Baulechong knocked in eight points apiece. Mei Rengiil and Chlarson also chipped in six points apiece.
The Chiefs were recipients of Bud Family prizes on both nights.
