Garapan Rollers I start their quest to reclaim the title they lost last year when it takes on Chalan Kanoa Saints next Monday, Feb. 13, in the start of the 2006 season of the Inter-Village Youth Basketball League.

Garapan is coming back with an almost intact lineup, while the CK Saints are once again expected to be one of the dark horses this year. The game would be held at the Garapan Basketball Court and tip-off is 6:30pm.

The first week of the IVYBL season will continue the next day when the San Antonio 69ers, now playing as Sixers I, go up against San Vicente at the Koblerville Basketball Court, again starting at 6:30pm.

Wednesday beginning 6:30pm at the As Matuis Basketball Court would then have the hometown Sparks squaring off against San Antonio Sixers II. Thursday’s game would then pit G-Rollers II against Sixers III at the Garapan Basketball Court.

The 2006 season of the IVYBL would be played Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursdays. No games are scheduled on Fridays with weekends reserved for make-up days.

IVYBL coordinator Jonathan Tenorio also reminded participating teams to submit team rosters, insurance, waver forms, and players’ birth certificates this coming Friday. The deadline for the $100 registration fee is also Feb. 10.

He also reminded teams that coaches should be present during games or the team will have to forfeit the game. Teams must also utilize its entire 15-man roster or all the players on the bench or they also would be forfeited.

Last year, the San Antonio 69ers exacted sweet revenge on their rivals, defending champion Garapan Rollers I, by beating them in the finals 64-54 at the Garapan Basketball Court.

Playoff MVP Jake Maratita scored 13 points in the fourth quarter and Matt Sablan completed a 3-point play to finish off the G-crew in the game held last May 11.
