KHS 12th grader makes it to Who’s Who
A 12th grade student from Kagman High School has joined the roster of select students for this year’s Who’s Who Among American High School Students, Honoring Tomorrow’s Leaders Today catalog.
Ciara Maratita made it to the elite list for two consecutive years and, this time, she has qualified for the exclusive membership with the Honor Society.
Vice president for student programs Jeffrey Fix said Maratita’s multiple nominations qualify her for induction to the exclusive society of gifted students to whom special recognition and benefits are aptly bestowed.
The 16-year-old’s participation in the 40th edition of the book is a testament to her outstanding accomplishment, said Fix.
“As one of the elite group of multi-year honorees—1/2 of 1 percent of American high school students—you have achieved a level of excellence that warrants membership in our elite ‘Honor Society.’ The status of belonging to this prestigious group will hold you in good stead at college application time.”
Her accomplishments are also a tribute to her family’s values, dedication and commitment, in spite of the multitude of problems that American students confront everyday.
Ciara’s parents, father David Maratita and fiancée Patricia P. Cabrera, and mother Rosaline C. Cepeda, say they are extremely proud of her achievements and are very supportive of whatever she wants to become in the future.
“We’re very proud of Ciara and we support her in all her endeavors. We wish her to go for her dreams and achieve her goals. We love her and wish her all the best,” said her father.
The Who’s Who Among American High School Students list is the 40th annual edition of the book that recognizes high school students’ efforts and academic achievement.
Fix said the catalog has been the most respected student recognition publication and award program in the entire nation.
“It has been recognized as a herald of future success since 1967. The great majority of our honorees have gone on to distinguish themselves first in college, then in the careers throughout their lives,” he said, adding that Maratita’s induction into the Honor Society would be following other achievers’ footsteps.
The publication’s selection undergoes a astringent process with standards that have been cited by education, parent and teachers associations at the state and national levels.
