Da Terminators secured first place in the Budweiser SBA Open 8-Ball League Tuesday night after finishing the season with a league-best 62-22 win-loss record.

Da Terminators entered their final evening of rounds at the pool table just four games ahead of the Round Two Hustlers, and made sure no change will be made atop the team standings after splitting the six matches against fourth place USSP Fotten Palau at Da Place.

Jojo Talibong got Da Terminators off to a good start by defeating Edward Suzuki, but the match was leveled when Re Rengiil came back strong for Fotten Palau to beat Senen Pangilinan. R.J. Mascarinas gave Da Terminators the lead after dispatching Mei Rengiil, but USSP found a way to respond and evened the match again as Gary Orpiano defeated Roman Rodriguez.

Da Terminators needed one more win to secure first place, and got it when Luis Fajardo and Frank Pangelinan stopped John Mongami and Marvin Baulechong. USSP’s Re Rengiil and Suzuki then ensured the team will not lose the contest as they won the second doubles bout with a win over Rodriguez and Pangilinan.

Fotten Palau finished with a 46-38 record.

Meanwhile, the Hustlers struggled and won only two games against Bud’s Bar Killaz at Bud’s Bar to settle for second place.

The Hustlers won the first game courtesy of Rowell Mariano, but the Killaz retaliated as Vidal Camacho and Henry Sasaki put up consecutive wins for a 2-1 lead. The Hustlers managed to tied the score when Nolan Cultura defeated Bill Villagomez. Jackie Sasaki and Pete Pereda of the Killaz then took the first doubles bout, and Henry Sasaki and Camacho won the second for the 4-2 win. The Hustlers finished with a 57-27 card, while the Killaz were 44-34 as of press time.

USSP Fotten Gaga and Jewel Night Shooters also finished in a tie as they split their six matches at the USSP Club. After dropping the first match, Jewel Night Shooters won three straight before losing the final two for the tie.

Fotten Gaga finished with a 37-47 record while the Night Shooters were 32-46 a of press time.

VFW What Doing also won 6-0 over VFW Leaders via default. What Doing finished with a 42-42 record while the Leaders are 10-74.

One more match was played last night as the Night Shooters took on Bud’s Bar Killaz in a make-up bout.

As reported earlier, an awards banquet will be held on Jan. 31 at 7pm at the Aliviera Sports Bar. A meeting will also be held to discuss the second season of the league.
