Duenas graduates from US Army training

Marianas High School Class of 2003 graduate Private First Class Cristin Santos Duenas Jr. and 101 others of the Delta Battery, 1st Battalion 40th Field Artillery took their oath as member of the U.S. Army during the graduation ceremony held at the Sheridan Theater in Fort Sill, Oklahoma on Jan. 12, 2006.

PFC. Duenas, 23, was assigned to the 4th Platoon “Wolf Pack” under the command of Platoon Sergeant DS Edward J. Hurley. His military occupation specialty is 13 Fox Forward Observer. Upon graduation at Fort Sill, he will leave for Korea as his assigned tour of duty for a year then report to MOS school in Hawaii.

Duenas is the son of Cristin C. Duenas Sr. and Joaquina R. Santos of Chalan Kiya, Saipan.

On hand to witness the graduation ceremony were Duenas’ parents, and Pete A. Torres on behalf of CNMI Resident Representative Pete A. Tenorio. Also at the graduation ceremony to provide moral support to the CNMI people in Fort Sill were Annie L. Santos, retired sergeants Ray Sablan and Frank San Nicolas Camacho.

“I joined the military for the opportunities that the Army offered me,” Duenas added. I like the Army. I don’t know if I’ll stay in, but for the time I’m in, I’ll do my best at whatever job I do. The military is a good place to transform your life as it did mine.”

“On behalf of the people of the CNMI, we commend you for your accomplishment and extend our sincere appreciation for serving in the U.S. Army and providing security in the world today. We wish you the best of luck and extend our prayers to you and your family and to the many men and women continuing to serve this great nation,” Resident Representative Tenorio said. (PR)
