The African-American Cultural Preservation Committee Inc. is inviting the public to participate in a tribute to, celebration, and commemoration of the continuing struggle for civil and human rights, on the occasion of the American family’s national observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, Jan. 16, 2006.

The public is invited to participate in a commemorative “mini-march” starting at 5pm, Monday, Jan. 16, from the central parking area of the American Memorial Park, down Beach Road to Garapan Elementary School and back to the American Memorial Park.

Following this march will be an assemblage in the museum theater area of the park for the formal program activities and presentation of speakers. Sen. Maria T. Pangelinan, the CNMI’s first female senator, will deliver the keynote address.

For more information, call Hilda or Sam Joyner at 287-9111; Joe Hill, 234-6806; or Ambrose Bennett, 256-6602.
