Slippery road brought on by occasional rain yesterday caused an electrician’s vehicle to skid, slam into a tree trunk by the roadside, and turn turtle on Beach Road, Susupe. Despite the severe wreckage to his vehicle, the motorist was nearly unscathed.

Forty-eight-year-old Ricardo Tarlit showed this reporter his left elbow that sustained abrasions. “I’m okay,” he said, but added that he would seek medical checkup to make sure that he did not incur any other injuries.

Tarlit said he was driving a gray Nissan pickup truck on the outermost lane on southbound Beach Road around 4:35pm when the mishap happened.

“A pedestrian crossed the street. The motorist ahead of me suddenly stepped on his brakes,” Tarlit narrated. “I didn’t want to hit that car, so I stepped on my brakes and my vehicle skidded.”

Tarlit said the vehicle slammed against a huge tree trunk by the roadside and turned turtle, causing severe damage to the vehicle. The motorist managed to crawl out of the vehicle.

Police responded to the scene to investigate. Tarlit said he was driving within the road’s speed limit at approximately 30mph when the accident happened.
