All evidence confiscated by the Department of Public Safety will now be safely secured and accounted for, according to DPS spokesman Eric F. David yesterday.

David said that DPS had just completed the renovation of the Criminal Investigation Bureau’s evidence storage room.

In a telephone interview with the Saipan Tribune, David said the renovation of the storage room, which used to be the law clerk’s library, started sometime in June 2005.

All pieces of evidence, including contraband that had been seized by the investigators, were temporarily stored in container vans while renovation of the building was undertaken.

Now, investigators are slowly putting back all the evidence in the renovated building, David said.

“Evidence will now be accounted for,” said David.

He said the latest security alarm system has also been installed in the building.

There were reports before that some evidence are either missing or stolen from the DPS storage room.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Motor Vehicle yesterday announced that all car owners who obtained temporary plate numbers may now pick up the temporary plates at BMV office.
