Continental may offer more charter services
Continental Micronesia vowed to continuously work with travel partners and offer charter flights to Saipan, which will pick up the number of travelers visiting the CNMI.
Continental Micronesia’s staff vice president for sales and marketing, Walter Dias, said the three charter flights from Japan earlier this month covered the peak period in Japanese travel to the islands.
“We continue to work with our travel industry partners when opportunities present themselves for additional flights,” Dias said.
He disclosed that Continental would also provide charter services from Nagoya to Saipan on Feb. 8.
The airline has provided three charters flights to Saipan from three Japanese cities this month. Dias said the flights, which used Boeing 737-800 jets that have seat capacities of 155 each, arrived on Saipan on Jan. 2, 3 and 4 from Nagoya, Niigata, and Sapporo, respectively.
Continental joins in the efforts of other air carriers, which have been providing charter services to pick up the number of tourists following the pullout of Japan Airlines’ regular flights to Saipan. JAL and Omni Airlines provided charter services from Japan during the holiday season. (John Ravelo)
