The Attorney General’s Office filed charges yesterday against a man who allegedly damaged three vehicles and tried to hit a police officer with a shovel.

Belagonte I. Ngeskebei, 38, was charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, and three counts of criminal mischief. He was summoned to appear and answer the charges at the Superior Court on Feb. 6.

Chief Prosecutor Jeffrey Moots alleged that on Oct. 1, 2005, Ngeskebei attempted to hit Police Officer James Gilnifrad and Benzi Muna Ngeskebei with a shovel.

Moots said the defendant broke the rear window of a 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser owned by ESSI-Saipan.

Moots said the defendant also damaged the rear window of a Hyundai Tucson registered to Crisanto M. Olivos.

The chief prosecutor also stated that Ngeskebei broke the rear window of another car owned by Jose A. Ulloa.
