‘Water supply in Koblerville, other areas back to normal’
The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. yesterday assured residents of southern Saipan that water supply to their area is back to normal following maintenance and repair work before the New Year.
On New Years’s Day, the Saipan Tribune received phone calls from residents claiming to be from Koblerville who complained about their water situation.
Acting CUC executive director Tony Guerrero said the utility firm had to repair three water pumps that malfunctioned on New Year’s Eve. He said repair work consequently affected water supply to Koblerville, San Antonio, and parts of Chalan Kanoa.
Although repair work was immediately completed, according to Guerrero, reviving pressure so that water could be pumped into homes would take some time. He assured yesterday, though, that water supply in affected areas had been restored.
Last Dec. 27, CUC also disclosed that some areas in Koblerville and San Antonio experienced water outage due to maintenance work. CUC said its contractor would replace five 8-inch water valves in Koblerville.
CUC said the replacement work complies with the recommendation of the CNMI Water Task Force to enhance water pressure in the village.
