Honor society’s book drive collects over 200
Over 200 books and educational periodicals were collected and donated to the Kagman Juvenile Detention and Correctional Facility by the Northern Marianas College’s Beta Lambda Psi chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.
PTK said they undertook the book drive to enhance the Kagman facility’s collection of reading materials.
Division of Youth Services director Victor Mesta, KJDCF supervisor Floyd Masga, and Social Worker supervisor Rose Teregeyo expressed their sincere appreciation to the PTK members for the valuable addition to the KJDCF library.
During the presentation, PTK president Brenda Cabrera remarked, “This is just the first round of books and magazines that PTK will be donating to the KJDCF, and we plan to continue assisting the facility with more book donations and other programs such as tutoring and training in the future.”
Founded in 1918, PTK has become the largest and most prestigious honor society recognizing academic excellence in two-year colleges around the world.
The organization’s membership has a sincere obligation to continually seek new service opportunities that will enhance the local community and benefit its members in their quest for academic and leadership excellence at NMC and beyond.
