Man gets 3 mos. for scaring ex-girlfriend, struggling with cop
The Superior Court has imposed a three-month jail term on a man who went to the house of his former common-law-wife and then struggled with a responding police officer.
Associate Judge Kenneth Govendo sentenced Hans H. Ngiramos to one year and six months in jail, all suspended except 90 days.
Following a plea agreement, Govendo gave the 36-year-old Ngiramos credit for the 90 days he already served in jail.
Govendo placed the defendant a year of probation.
The judge ordered the defendant to pay $325 in fine and court assessment fee and required him to perform 100 hours of community work service.
Ngiramos is prohibited from drinking any alcoholic beverages during the one-year probationary period, Govendo said.
The defendant was also directed to undergo anger counseling before the Community Guidance Center and write a letter of apology to his former common-law wife and Police Officer Jesus Cepeda.
Ngiramos was charged with two counts of disturbing the peace, one count of resisting arrest, and one count of criminal contempt of court.
The defendant entered a plea agreement with the government. He pleaded guilty to one count of disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, and criminal contempt of court.
According to court papers, the Superior Court on Aug. 17, 2004 ordered Ngiramos to stay away from the victim, her residence and place of employment.
On Jan. 31, 2005, the defendant failed to comply that order by appearing at her residence during the evening hours and refused to leave until the police were called.
On Sept. 24, 2005, the defendant arrived at the victim’s house in the evening and was seen staring at her through her window.
The victim said the behavior scared her because of the prior domestic incident and having an order to stay away from her.
Ngiramos also struggled and cursed Officer Cepeda, who attempted to arrest him.
