Pool Junkies, Hyatt Pomec are best in CNMI Billiards League
The Pool Junkies and Hyatt Pomec were in a zone of their own throughout the 2005 CNMI Miller Lite Billiards League, and separated themselves from the rest of the pack to rule their respective divisions.
With all eyes on reigning supreme, the Pool Junkies racked up a total of 44 points to finish on top of the mountain in the A League.
The team is made up of veterans Roger Espiritu, Jean Codog, Rico Alcazar, Jojo Talibong, and Cesar Sangalang. The five pool artists received their championship trophies plus $440 in cash during an awards ceremony Wednesday night at Shooters Bar in Garapan.
Taking second place were Luis Fajardo, Eric Santos, R.J. Mascarinas, Rolly Villanueva, Robert Sanciangco, and Willy Roman of the Destroyers, who finished the season with 40 points, while Jerry Soriano, Nolan Cultura, Mario Diola, Juancho Mendoza, and Rommel Crisostimo of Jam Shooters finished with 36 points for third place.
Rounding up the competition was No Mercy, which comprised of Senen Pangelinan, Rowel Mariano, Erwin Gomez, Joey Lucido, and Nhel Pagaduan.
Hyatt Pomec, meanwhile, was the top team in the B League after finishing with 44 points. The team, comprised of Ed Manucduc, Marvin Mendoza, Larry Briones, Rick Elafante, and Rodel Dela Cruz, split their $315 cash prize and also received shiny trophies.
The Strikers placed second with 37 points as Kim Prinz, Eric Caisip, Toto Silvestre, Ron Chisato, and Annie Tesio were just seven points back, while Los Cabos trailed the Strikers by just a point and took home third place. Making up the team were Ray Cabo, Eduard Armia, Marcel Pinote, Jerome Ortiz, and J.P. Jose.
Fourth place went to Gary Orpiano, Welsin Apaisam, Mike Teofisto, Chris Chlarson, Jeff Javier, and Bert Cucena of the Amigos.
Action in the CNMI Billiards League returns in the New Year as its next tournament will be held starting in Janaury.
