Joeten Motors recently split its $3,000 annual educational tax credit to two schools, Sister Remedios Early Childhood Development and San Antonio Elementary School.

General manager Joe Guerrero said Joeten Motors Board of Directors recommended that the contribution be given to Sister Remedios and San Antonio, since the two are new recipients of the program implemented by the Finance Department two years ago.

Guerrero said he was happy Sister Remedios was chosen as one of the beneficiaries, as he attended the school some 20 years ago.

Participating companies are allowed to donate a maximum of $5,000 of their education tax credits every year.

Sister Remedios principal, Sister Martha Ramarui, said she is very grateful for the generosity of the automobile dealership. She said the school has always been looking for financial assistance from the community and the money the school received would go to finance their utility requirements.

Ramarui said the school is currently struggling, especially with the high cost of power utilities.

“We only rely on the tuition fees to pay all our dues,” she said. Currently, the early childhood development program has at least 117 young students. She said she is appealing to the community for more help. “Please do not hesitate, all schools need your help.”

San Antonio Elementary School acting principal Katrina Lizama attended the donation ceremony held at one of Joeten Motors’ showrooms in Oleai. She said the school is also looking for assistance from the community. “We are all struggling in the school,” she said, adding that the donation would go to school supplies needed for all the 320 students currently enrolled in the school.
