The Division of Environmental Quality has assigned a green flag to Rota’s beaches and storm drainages after none of the samples collected from 12 locations it monitors on the island contained excessive concentration of fecal indicator bacteria nor did they exceed the CNMI Marine Water Quality Standards.

The agency analyzes water samples collected from Rota’s recreational beaches and storm drainages every month as part of the regularly scheduled sampling.

DEQ analyzed samples of marine recreational and storm drainage water from 12 locations on Rota Island this week. DEQ welcomes all inquiries as to the quality of the beach water. The public is encouraged to contact DEQ at 664-8500 with any questions concerning this matter. (PR)
