Grace Cing re-ups at Marianas House
SPC Grace May Cabrera Cing from Tinian took her re-enlistment oath at Marianas House last Dec. 15, administered by 2nd Lt. Adrian Evangelista.
Cing has already served over four years in the U.S. Army and re-enlisted for three more years. She is stationed at Ft. Meade, Maryland supporting the National Security Agency.
Cing is the daughter of former senator David Mendiola and Daria Cabrera Cing.
She is a 2001 graduate of Tinian High School, where she participated in Junior ROTC for four years. She was last home in 2004. She is engaged to be married to Gerard Naputi of Saipan.
Cing has two brothers who are also in the military. Sgt. Gregory C. Cing is stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington, and her younger brother, PFC Vincent C. Cing, is stationed in South Korea.
2nd Lt. Adrian Evangelista is a 2005 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy. He is currently stationed in Quantico, Virginia undergoing Marine Officer Training. His next post will be in Pensacola, Florida where he will be trained as a Marine Aviator.
“I wanted to have my re-enlistment ceremony at Marianas House because it’s the closest I’m going to get to home, and it’s good that Adrian was able to administer my oath, since he’s also from Tinian,” stated Cing. “I’m glad that I could schedule it while Representative Tenorio was here. He and his staff made it a very special occasion.”
“I like life in the service. It has afforded me education, travel, a stable job, and the experience is worth it. There aren’t many options for young people in the CNMI, and the military is a great choice,” continued Cing.
“It was our honor to host SPC Cing’s re-enlistment at Marianas House. She is doing an important job for her country, and I am awed by her dedication and sense of duty. She is an extraordinary young woman, and all of us from the CNMI should be very proud of her,” remarked CNMI Resident Representative Pete A. Tenorio.
SPC Cing also served as an honor guard carrying the CNMI flag last July 12 at the annual wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery in honor of the 61st Liberation of Guam and the Battle for the Marianas. (PR)
