Tottori athletics group to train on Saipan

The track and field facility at the Oleai Sports Complex will have another busy week, as it will play host to athletes of the Tottori Track and Field Association, who will train at the venue for two days.
Division of Sports and Recreation official Elias Rangamar said the group from Kansai, Japan will use the track this coming Thursday and Friday.
A schedule furnished by Rangamar showed that the training camp will be held from 8am to 4pm on both days.
“This is another golden opportunity to build relationships with international associations,” said Rangamar, who also serves as the coaches’ director for the Northern Marianas Athletics. “This year, they’ll be training their athletes…maybe next year when they come, they can hold a clinic for our athletes and coaches also.”
The group is scheduled to arrive at 1:15am tomorrow onboard Northwest Airlines. They will then head to the Hafadai Beach Hotel, where they will reside until Saturday.
The Tottori delegation will also meet with NMA tomorrow morning and will go sightseeing via charter buses at various historic sites including the Last Command Post, Banzai Cliff, and Bird Island Lookout.
The Marianas Visitors Authority will then host the group for dinner that evening.
The NMA will then host a barbeque party for the delegation Friday evening.
The delegation will begin their journey home at 6:50am Saturday.
Last week, the facility hosted over 100 elite athletes from the NMI, Guam, Kiribati, Nauru, Marshall Islands, Palau, and the Federated States of Micronesia in the 2nd Micronesia Athletics Championships as well as the IAAF Kids Athletics. Officials from the IAAF and the Oceania Athletics Association were also part of the event.
