Laniyo still ahead in Rocball scoring

B-n-S veteran Myron Laniyo continues to have a memorable season and remains on top of the scoring department in the 2005 World Organized Rocball High School League.

Through five games, Laniyo has recorded a whopping 70 points, and is the key reason B-n-S is in a two-way tie with the Lagooners in third place with a 3-2 win-loss record.

Laniyo was just recently upgraded to Master Blaster status after getting a jam in B-n-S’ bout against the Caropinos last week. The jam was the only category Laniyo needed to become Master Blaster again as he had already scored aces, xunks, kees, and goals earlier in the season.

A player earns Master Blaster status when he or she scores in each of the five categories.

In all, Laniyo has a jam, 13 aces, two xunks, 18 kees, and a goal.

Right behind Laniyo is Shane Yamada of defending champion Mwaliyas, who sits just three points back with 67 markers.

Yamada’s addition to the Mwaliyas roster—he played on a different team last season—has served as a huge boost in Mwaliyas’ campaign for two-straight titles as he has connected for a jam, 11 aces, three xunks, 10 kees, and six goals, helping his team remain undefeated with a 5-0 record.

Ochobu’s David Tisa is currently third on the list with 45 points after knocking in eight aces, a xunk, nine kees, and three goals, but his presence on the court seems to be the main ingredient for success as his team’s balanced attack results in a second-best 4-1 record.

Just For Fun’s Dennis Camacho follows with seven aces, two xunks, five kees, and five goals for 43 points. After dropping their first three games, Camacho and company have stormed back and won two straight for a 2-3 record.

For his part, Tito Francisco remains on the heavy hitter list with 40 points on 10 aces, seven kees, and two goals, while Dior Jones of Black Magic follows with 11 aces, a xunk, four kees, and two goals for 38 points.

Matthew Iguel of the Caropinos is next with 35 points on 10 aces, a xunk, two kees, and three goals, while Darrel Moteisou of Malat rounds up the leaders with 33 points on 11 aces, two xunks, two kees, and a goal.

Also, Laniyo’s numbers in the ace and kee categories are league best, as is Yamada’s six goals. Gary Phillips of the Lagooners currently leads the Xunk Master category with five.
