America, Got Beer? earn wins at PIC
A couple of the top teams scored wins at the Pacific Islands Club on Tuesday night as America F@#& Yeah! and Got Beer? each took two of three sets from their opponents under the lights in continuation of the 7th Annual Miller Lite Coed Four-Person Beach Volleyball League.
Jon Cramer and the spirited Got Beer? crew were the first to pour on the power juice along the San Antonio shores as they smoked the students from Saipan International School to notch their ninth win of the season.
The Geckos (1-10) didn’t go down easily though as they shocked their fermented foes with an 11-8 win in the opening set before falling in the final two, 11-2 and 11-3. Got Beer? improved its record to 9-3, but is still a couple of games out of first place as Hot Myx reigns supreme at 10-1.
America F@#& Yeah! is still in the running for the second place position at 9-2 after they gobbled Galuti (7-3) in one of the night’s most competitive contests. After edging the G-men in the first set, 11-8, the Americans dug deep to pull out a narrow 12-10 win in the second that clinched the overall victory. Despite dropping the third set, 4-11, America F@#& Yeah! is even with Palaksi and holds a narrow half-game advantage over Got Beer?.
At 8-3, Lick It, Stick It, Smack It is not far from the pack as they throttled the kids from Marianas High School by a combined 33-17 score. The Dolphins suffered their double digit loss to fall to 2-10, but for the meantime they can revel in the fact that they are the only school team with two wins.
That sort of rivalry is lost on the once promising You’re My Boy Blue!, as Dale Roberts and company lost for the seventh time of the season to fall to 4-7 at the hands of Puff, Puff, Pass.
Quincy Johnson’s clan was all over the Blue crew as they riddled Roberts and company for a total tally of 33-14 by sweeping all three sets. The lack of players didn’t help You’re My Boy Blue!, as Rob Epley and Mieko Motoyoshi were forced to seek out tourists to compliment their squad until the picture of punctuality—their captain—arrived to take part in the final two sets.
