The father of the missing John G. Manahane yesterday disclosed his plan to go back to Redding, California, where he works in a printing office.

Luis Manahane, 48, told the Saipan Tribune that he will be leaving the CNMI on Dec. 6 if the Attorney General’s Investigative Unit still can’t complete its investigation on his son’s mysterious disappearance.

Luis Manahane, however, explained that if “something” comes up before Dec. 6, he will stay on Saipan to monitor the development in the case.

He said his relatives based on Saipan promised to closely monitor the investigation and would inform him on every development.

On Wednesday, Luis Manahane traveled to Tinian where he talked with a woman who pointed to him the possible site where his son was allegedly buried.

The site, he said, was close to the house of a relative of one Frances Cepeda.

Luis Manahane said he noticed a freshly dug up hole in the site. He said the woman found the site after smelling strong stench so she ran away and called the police.

The Tinian police then contacted the AGIU, he added.

“Did the AGIU find any body in the area? I like to find out from the AGIU,” he said.

Luis Manahane earlier revealed that AGIU had already identified two suspects that allegedly caused the disappearance of his 24-year-old son.

Luis Manahane is on Saipan to follow up the case after his California-based sister informed him in Oct. 2005 about what had reportedly happened to his son.

The AGIU, with the assistance of the Guam police and the CNMI Department of Public Safety, have been searching for John Manahane, who was said to have been murdered and buried near a cliff line on Tinian. (Ferdie de la Torre)
