America F@#& Yeah! cruised to its fifth consecutive win on Tuesday night as the liberators took a broom to the kids from Saipan International School to improve their record to 8-1 atop the 7th Annual Miller Lite Coed Four-Person Beach Volleyball League.

Despite sporting a roster that includes the CNMI women’s beach volleyball team, the Geckos were unable to stem the tide of American pride as Mark McDonald’s hair beyond compare jumped out to take the first set, 11-6.

SIS was unable to bounce back from the initial beating and lost focus in the remaining two sets as dropped them by a combined score of 22-4. The Geckos also slid into a three-way tie for the second worst team in the league, but they seem to be safe from reaching rock bottom as the Sugoi Seven are on a mission to wrap up that title.

Despite the absence of one of their weakest players, the Seven lost their ninth consecutive contest of the season to Puff, Puff, Pass in one of their closest matches to date. After the 3-Ps left them in a cloud of smoke in an 11-1 opening set, the Seven fought back and forced a 7-7 tie in the second before succumbing to captain Quincy Morgan’s crew, 11-7.

They suffered the sweep when they went down in the third set by an identical 11-7 score to fall to 0-9 on the year, while Puff, Puff, Pass crept into the playoff picture at 5-4.

Galuti (6-2) climbed into fifth place in the 15-team league by sweeping Aschaabw (3-6) in straight sets, but their game was anything but one-sided. After eking out a narrow 13-11 win in the first set, the G-Men edged Aschaabw in the second to clinch the win with a thrilling 11-9 score. The teams played as close as conjoined twins throughout the night as each set was won by the slimmest of margins, and Galuti barely managed to take the third as well, 11-9.

Lick It, Stick It, Smack It (6-3) didn’t face the same face difficulties in their contest with Namete (3-6), as they throttled their foes 11-0 and 11-3 in the first two sets to secure the win before sending in the B-Team. Namete put up more of a fight in the third set than they had in their previous two games as they packed on back-to-back forfeits due to a lack of players, but they lost the third set despite the extra manpower, 12-10.

The action continued tonight as all three school teams return to the San Antonio sand court as SIS takes on Hot Myx, GCA looks to defeat Namete, and the Dolphins try not to become the first team to lose to the Sugoi Seven.

Third place is at stake as well as Got Beer? (7-2) challenges Palaksi (7-2), while You’re My Boy Blue! (4-4) can get into the playoff hunt with a win over Pugua Time! (5-4).
