While Mother Nature served up a night full of rain, Jon Cramer and the Got Beer? crew poured into first place on Tuesday night without working up a sweat as only Max Kuan and Laurie Peterka showed up to the sand courts of the Pacific Islands Club to represent Namete in the continuation of the 7th Annual Miller Lite Coed Four-Person Beach Volleyball League.

With only two of the necessary four players on hand, Namete forced the hands of officials to declare a forfeit and awarded their opponents a nicely packaged 33-0 three-set sweep.

Christmas came early for Got Beer? (7-1) as the complete seven-member team was present to unwrap their seventh win of the season on a drizzly night. Though disappointed by the lack of competition, the squad was still happy to improve their standing in the 15-team league, while Namete slipped further back in the playoff race to 3-4.

Aschaabw also scored an easy sweep on Tuesday as they put the hurt on the Geckos from Saipan International School in a combined 33-9 beat down. Though they improved their record to 3-5, Aschaabw is a much tougher competitor than they show on paper, as they demonstrated to the students.

After skunking the Geckos in the first set, 11-0, Aschaabw clinched the win with an equally dominant 11-1 score in the second. SIS (1-6) rallied in the third to force Aschaabw to work harder in the third set, but they fell short of wining a consolation set, 11-8.

The Hot Myx made the most of a damp night by turning up the heat on Galuti to win their sixth match in sweeping fashion, 11-9, 11-3, and 11-3. The victory put the Myx (6-1) in second place, as they trail Got Beer? by just a half game midway through the season, but Galuti fell to fifth, at 5-2.

The easy streaks came to an end when Lick It, Stick It, Smack It (5-3) rallied to edge Puff, Puff, Pass (4-4) on the final play of their three-set thriller. After pulling out a narrow 11-9 win in the first set, Lick It, Stick It, Smack It fell just shy of clinching the game when Nick Castro’s cutty failed to cross the net to give Puff, Puff, Pass the equalizer, 12-10.

After falling behind 7-1 in the third set, Lick It, Stick It, Smack It clawed its way back into the match, and Castro got redemption in the final moments when he scored the final point, 12-10.
