Veterans Day is a special day for Veterans of Foreign Wars members. It is a time to remember the contributions of all veterans both living and dead. It should not be a day of sadness, but a time of pride and reflection on what veterans have accomplished and the freedoms they have protected.

As the CNMI recoils from the shock of the loss of two of her own, the VFW motto “Honor the Dead by Helping the Living” becomes especially appropriate this Veterans Day. VFW members assist veterans, active duty service members, their families and the entire community. We hope that through our actions all citizens will take the time to reflect on how veterans have served their country and continue to contribute through their community service.

Let us be determined to honor those who have fallen by honoring those still living. We ask that you remember on this day, and every day, the service and sacrifice of all veterans. We also ask that you remember those who are now serving on active duty and join us in our prayers for their safe return.

On behalf of Saipan VFW Post 3457,

Barry Hirshbein
Commander
