Budweiser Open 8-Ball League kicks off tonight
The inaugural Budweiser Saipan Billiards Association Open 8-Ball League will hold its opening break tonight with all eight participating teams seeing action in four separate sports bars on Saipan.
VFW Leaders would take on USSP Fotten Palau at home at the VFW Post 3457. USSP Fotten Gaga, meanwhile, will also be at home inside the USS Peleliu Club when it squares off against VFW What Doing. The others match-ups would have Jewel Night Shooters challenging Round Two Hustlers at Round Two and Da Terminators testing Bud’s Killaz at Bud’s Bar.
Pacific Amusement, the same company that runs the leagues of the Saipan Electronic Darts Association, is organizing the Budweiser SBA Open 8-Ball League.
According to Pacific Amusement, the billiards league would operate much the same way as the SEDA leagues.
“We have been running the Darts Association leagues for more than 12 years and we would bring our experience into the Saipan Billiards Association. We hope that with this league, a new spirit of fun and camaraderie will develop in the billiards competition on Saipan,” the company said.
Pacific Amusement also said that for the meantime rules of the Billiards Congress of America would be applied throughout the competition, save for some exceptions that the company had already discussed with team captains and their players.
Teams taking parts in the Budweiser SBA Open 8-Ball League would be made up of a minimum of four teams and a maximum of eight teams. Teams must also play all players in their roster that show up for the match.
A total of eight teams from eight sports bar are taking part in the Budweiser SBA Open 8-Ball League. They include the already aforementioned VFW Post 3457, Round Two, Bud’s Bar, and USS Peleliu Club, as well as Da Place Sports Bar and Club Jewel. Da Terminators and Jewel Night Shooters call Da Place and Club Jewel home, respectively.
