GOP unfazed by opposition’s ‘kin’ ad
The Republican Party said it is unfazed by a political ad showing a perceived relative of Gov. Juan N. Babauta, endorsing a political opposition tandem.
One of the Covenant Party’s television ads shows a certain Joaquin Crisostimo Babauta, pledging his support to the gubernatorial candidacy of House Speaker Benigno R. Fitial and Timothy P. Villagomez.
“Who is he [Joaquin Babauta]? I’m sorry, I don’t really know the guy. He can do what he wants but I don’t think that [campaign] has an impact to us,” said GOP chairman John S. Reyes in an interview.
The opposition Babauta claims to be an uncle of Gov. Babauta.
GOP said he is definitely not one of the brothers of the governor’s father, Santiago M. Babauta.
Meantime, Reyes said the party is all geared up for tomorrow’s major motorcade on Saipan.
He said the event will begin across the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium and Michachom Atdao pavilion at 10am.
It will go south to San Antonio, Kovlerville then to Dandan and San Vicente.
The motorcade will use the back road to get to Kagman.
“We’ll go inside Kagman, then come out going to Capitol Hill. We’ll go to Tanapag, San Roque and back through Garapan all the way back to Susupe,” said Reyes.
He said the entire event is expected to finish at 4pm.
Food and entertainment follows at the meeting area.
“Everybody will be there. Everybody is invited to come. Let’s all come down,” Reyes said.
Reyes said the program may last up to 630pm. (Liberty Dones)
