B-n-S entered the Marianas High School Gymnasium yesterday with a mission and despite dropping the third set, managed to get back to its dominant ways and went on to defeat Just For Fun, 53-30, as action continued in the 2005 World Organized Rocball High School League.

As reported earlier, B-n-S had complete control of the match in the first two sets, leading 32-8, before game official Jim Feger put a hold on the game after the allotted time expired.

It was a new day yesterday and was more so for Just For Fun, who blew away all in attendance by jumping the gun and getting off to a stunning start in the third set. Kevin Aldan served for six straight points and Just For Fun took the early lead. The team found itself with a 9-0 lead before B-n-S managed to get a kee to get on the board.

The kee was quickly erased, though, as Just For Fun connected for a xunk and chose to subtract the two points off of B-n-S. It was all Just For Fun from there as the team went on to a 16-6 win, cutting their deficit to 14 points, 24-38.

B-n-S had to win the fourth set to juice out and did so in convincing fashion. Myron Laniyo served for four aces and a xunk to kick off their retaliation and the game was quickly put away, ending with Laniyo making a diving save that sent the ball up in the air. The ball soon touched the floor but not after it was smacked by B-n-S for the game-winning kill.

Laniyo finished as the game’s heavy hitter with four aces, two xunks, and three kees for 18 points. Aldan led Just For Fun with six points on two aces and a kee.

Action in high school Rocball resumes tomorrow as Black Magic and defending champion Mwaliyas test each other.
