Plenty of cage action scheduled for this week
Basketball fans will have another week of full action as competition in three leagues continues this week.
Kicking off the cage week fiesta is action in the 2005 Saipan Rotary Club Youth Basketball League as the Bwibwiis and Chalan Kanoa Saints battle today at 5:30pm.
Rotary action will also be featured tomorrow as the undefeated Southern Sonics try to keep their perfect record intact against Hoops.
Next up is the resumption of the 2005 Budweiser Cup BANMI Men’s Island-wide Basketball League as O’Duols-Ol’Aces take on Anheuser-3’s Construction tomorrow at 7pm. Both teams have pulled off two wins in the ongoing first round of the regular season, with Anheuser suffering three losses and O’Duols four losses.
Following the bout is a battle of teams with just one loss on their corners as Michelob-Masters Construction faces Bud Ice-SaipanCell Hoopaholics at 8:30pm. Both teams are tied for third in the team standings with 3-1 win-loss cards.
Another Rotary game will be played on Thursday as the Bwibwiis return to battle the Sonics at 5:30pm.
Bud Cup action returns on Friday with Budweiser/Wells Fargo gunning for their first win against Michelob-Masters Construction at 7pm and two-time defending champion Bud Light-Toyota Tundra going for their fifth win in six games against Hoopaholics at 8:30pm.
Closing the week is playoffs action in the 35-and-over Masters Basketball League with Pepsi taking on pennant champion Heinz and Dave Proa at 6pm for a slot in the championship game. Immediately following the game will be a do-or-die match between Verizon and the Old Aces, with the loser bowing out of the competition and the winner facing the lower of the Pepsi-Proa bout. Masters games are held at the Northern Marianas College.
