On the last evening of this month, Oct. 31, get yourself into some frightful adventure at Pacific Islands Club. PIC is scheduled to open its spine-chilling Haunted House to those who dare.

PIC Halloween program coordinator Dennis Tababa said that, for a very limited time beginning at 7:30pm, people can enter the much-talked about “Haunted House” and be able to explore its different rooms.

He prefers not to reveal what’s inside every room, but he said that regular “occupants” in the house such as the bloodthirsty Dracula and the notorious “Killer Clown” are sure to provide a hair-raising experience to the visitors.

“If you dare, we will meet you at 7:30pm at the house entrance and guide you through the rooms,” he said.

Prior to the house visit, Tababa said that guests can first gather for a delightful buffet dinner at Magellan Room, where they will be served “a creepy cuisine.”

PIC executive chef Robert Stern said he has designed a different set of menu for the night’s special guests.

For instance, diners can try the following salad menu: Crazed Chicken Salad with Finger Chips, Bloody Tomato and Shrimp Salad, Screw Loose Pasta Salad in Gooey Sauce, Fainted Shrimp in Glass Noodle Salad, Drowning Mushrooms in Garlic and Olive Oil, Chainsaw Massacre Artichoke Hearts and Heart of Palm Salad with Red Dressing, and Nails and Spikes Potato Salad.

Guests can take the Ghastly Pumpkin Soup and Gang Green Seaweed Soup as well as the Forgotten Bread and Rolls, plus “Far East specialties” such as Korean noodles with beef chapchae, pork bulgogi, beef tunkatsu, and Burmese chicken curry.

Hot entrees include Screaming Mahi with Spicy Tomato Salsa, Closely Shaved Coconut and Vegetable Curry, Cracked-Up Batter-Dipped Fried Fish and Seafood with a Spotted Sauce, Tingling Penne Arriabiatta, Skinned Potatoes with Crawling Onions, and Scared and Stuffed Spring Rolls.

For that particular night, the dessert station offers Spooky Chocolate Cup Cakes, Shaky Baked Apple Pie, Icky Sugar Snake Cookies, Smashed Cookies and, of course, Frankenstein’s favorite desserts.

“I guarantee that food is going to be great,” said Stern.

Dinner is specially priced at $25.60, which is 20-percent off the regular rate. This package is inclusive of wines, draft beer, juices, sodas, and hot drinks.

Those who come for the dinner automatically get a free ticket to the Haunted House and the scary show to be held at 9pm. For those who would only like to visit the Haunted House, the ticket is sold at $5 each.

“The show is for free. Everybody can come in their favorite Halloween costumes,” said Nan Intharaluk, entertainment and administrative manager.

He said participants can join the best-in- costume contest and win exciting prizes. The contest has children and adult categories.

Meantime, Tababa said that families and friends can spend the whole day at PIC on Oct. 31. The special Halloween activities actually start at 10am with a pumpkin carving contest at the waterpark and “Shoot the Floating Pumpkin” at the archery range at 11am.

“Almost every hour, there’s something different and prizes will be given away,” said Tababa.

At 2pm, children can join the “Dress the Mummy” contest at the Sports Field. At 3pm, there is a PIC Halloween-style volleyball at the beach while at 4pm, there’s “Bobbing for Red Goblins” at the Sports Field. At 5pm, guests can take part in the haunted bingo game at the information center.

“I just want to invite everyone in the community to come. It’s a fun-filled family day. Come, celebrate and dress up,” said PIC food and beverage administrative assistant Paul Dujua.
