Garapan Rollers I continued to cruise in the ongoing 2005 Saipan Rotary Club Youth Basketball League, picking up its ninth straight win and keeping its perfect record intact after beating the Chalan Kanoa Saints, 69-45, Wednesday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

Joe Diaz’s G-I crew’s success was a result of its pressure defense, which made its presence felt by limiting league second leading scorer Luis Reyes to just five points throughout the entire game.

While the Saints’ lethal weapon was struggling, the G-Rollers’ Pistol Pete Iguel and Vince Teregeyo were busy lighting up the scoreboard and helping their team jump ahead.

Iguel scored 10 of the team’s first 17 points and added another seven points in the second half, while Teregeyo caught fire midway through the game and began tormenting the Saints with his offensive play in the second half that enabled the G-Rollers to steam away for the 14-point victory margin.

Teregeyo nailed two shots from downtown and finished with a game-high 18 points while Iguel and Kevin Aldan supported well with 17 and 10 points.

L.J. Reyes was the only player to finish in double figures for the Saints with 11 points.

Rotary action continued with two games yesterday as Hoops took on the San Antonio Sixers II in the first game and Capitol Hill Breeze battled San Antonio in the second game. Results were not available as of press time.

League officials announced that no games would be played on Monday, Oct. 10, in observance of Columbus Day. Games will resume on Tuesday, Oct. 11 with the Bwibwiis challenging the Saints at 5:30pm.
