With the summer holiday travel coming to an end, the Marianas Visitors Authority’s summer campaign entitled Happy Children in Paradise has also ended.

This year’s campaign received nearly 15,000 visiting children from Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, China, and Russia to the Marianas—Saipan, Tinian, and Rota during the campaign period that began on July 1 and ended Sept. 30.

In 2004, the Marianas received nearly 13,000 children. Children were seen around the islands sporting the Saipanda collectible item; the collectible is a Saipanda backpack with a Saipan, Tinian, and Rota logo water bottle.

“Given the islands attributes of a summer climate all year round, this year’s giveaway was an ideal gift to the arriving children,” said MVA managing director Vicky Benavente. In addition to the Saipanda gift item, a life-size version of Saipanda greeted arriving passengers at the airport from 1pm to 4pm and 1am to 4am daily.

“We are optimistic that this promotion brought in more visitors during the year’s summer months. We will continue to progress and develop better awareness of the destination in all markets for the Marianas-Saipan, Tinian, and Rota,” added Benavente. (PR)
