Punch on the face lands man in jail

A man was arrested and slapped with assault and battery charges after he punched another man on the face during an argument.

Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Catherine Sheu identified the suspect as Guang Sheng Jin, 36. Jin was taken to the Department of Corrections where he was booked and detained.

Sheu said that Jin and the victim, whom she did not identify, had been arguing in the vicinity of the World Mission Church in As Lito at about 12:03am Thursday. During the argument, Sheu said that the suspect lost his temper and punched the victim, hitting him on the face. The victim, 42, immediately reported the incident to the police.

Another assault and battery case was reported on the same day. The incident happened at 9:45pm

Sheu said the victim, a 33-year old female, had been also engaged in an argument with Jian Hong Du, 32. The victim told the police that she and Du were arguing over personal matters as well as for the custody of a minor child.

The victim said that, in the course of their verbal dispute, Du pushed the victim and threw a punch at her. Du was arrested and was taken to the Department of Corrections where he was booked and detained.
