Siheky Splash Pool, a new recreational water park facility for children, was opened to guests yesterday at the Pacific Islands Club.

PIC general manager Kieran M. Daly said the construction of the $200,000 Siheky Splash Pool came about after they realized that the CNMI does not have an area where parents and children can interact while enjoying the soothing waters at the PIC Water Park.

Daly said they built the splash pool to complement the hotel’s mascot, Siheky. He said the Siheky Splash Pool is for children between the ages of six months and eight years.

He said they began the construction for the splash pool in late July and is part of the $2-million renovation project of PIC. Daly said recent typhoons and weather disturbances challenged the immediate construction of the pool.

He said the soft opening yesterday was held to preempt the grand opening of the splash pool this Saturday. It also marked the completion date of the pool.

Daly is inviting the public this Saturday to let their children enjoy a fun weekend at the splash pool and the rest of PIC’s Water Park.

Entry fee to the Water Park costs only $10 for children and $20 for adults. He said he is also providing great deals for CNMI schools.

“One thing is that we encourage parents to guard their children,” Daly said. He also assured that a lifeguard would be on duty at all times. The pool is only 18 inches deep.

The Siheky Splash Pool is open from 9am to 6pm.
