Voter registration for the 2005 general election will cease at the close of business on Friday, Sept. 16, 2005, according to the Commonwealth Election Commission.

Voter registration from outside the Northern Mariana Islands must be completed, notarized and postmarked by Sept. 16, 2005 to be accepted for the Nov. 5, 2005 general election.

Registered voters who will not be in the Commonwealth on election day must apply to vote by absentee voting. The commission will only send ballots for absentee voters if applications are submitted to the commission by Oct. 26, 2005.

Anyone requiring more information should call the Commission at 664-VOTE or by email to cec@saipan.com or info@votecnmi.gov.mp. (PR)
