The Superior Court yesterday ordered the deportation of a farmer who was earlier convicted on two criminal charges.

Associate Judge David Wiseman declared Faustino T. Abadeza Jr. an undesirable alien and ordered the worker’s deportation as soon as possible.

The court had convicted Abadeza of burglary and theft by deception in a 2004 criminal case. Assistant attorney general Ian Catlett said he initiated deportation proceedings against Abadeza after the convict served jail time.

“The CNMI has decided that alien workers or visitors who are privileged to enter the CNMI are less than desirable persons to remain in the CNMI and should be removed from the CNMI by deportation if they commit serious crimes here or otherwise violate the law,” Wiseman noted.

The judge said Abadeza’s conviction on two criminal charges made it clear that the worker is deportable.

The judge ordered the release of Abadeza’s travel documents to Immigration investigator Nick Reyes. He also exonerated any cash bail posted for Abadeza to the posting party.
