Mother Nature claimed another victim of the local sports world yesterday morning as the eighth installment of the monthly CNMI Inter-Island Paintball Tournament at Raiders Field was cancelled due to inclement weather.

The players left the As Matuis facility disappointed, but according to race coordinator Norma Rueter, they wouldn’t have enjoyed it much had they pressed on with the tournament.

“It’s hard to play when it’s raining and it’s no fun. It’s also no good for the equipment when they play in the rain,” she said.

Rueter vowed that the event will be rescheduled, but the dates have not yet been released. More than likely, the real colors of fake war will return before the end of the month to allow teams to vie for one of the four remaining slots in the year end invitation only tournament.

The cost of registration is $10 to enter your squad into the color war, with an additional $5 fee for marker rental if necessary. For more information, contact tournament coordinator Norma Rueter by calling 286-0809.
