Cavite Country House cruised to another victory on Saturday evening as they made minced meat out of MBI with a 35-point victory in continuation of the 2nd MDX Basketball League at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

Errol Peredo led all 11 Cavite scorers with 21 points, and seven of his teammates who scored went into double digits by the end of the night. Peredo got started early by putting up 15 points in the first quarter to lead Country House to a narrow two-point advantage at the buzzer, and when he wasn’t scoring he was kicking out the ball to his teammates.

Jolan Mendoza was a recipient of the passes and picked up the torch in the second with 10 points to end the half up 50-42.

While the first two quarters were slowed a bit by close defense and the resulting fouls, the second half featured freewheeling offense that was momentarily slowed by a total of four trips to the line.

Despite MBI big man Larry Palero bringing down 11 rebounds, Country House increased its lead to 18 points in the third quarter with eight of its shooters pulling down points—including eight from William Opone.

Shots came at a premium for MBI, as the Cavite defense locked them down to a total of 14 points, but that was not the case for Country House as Wilfredo Dayrit scored 11 of his 13 points in the final quarter and Kevin Aldan posted eight of his 12.

While the first game of the night featured at least some defense from one of the teams, there was none to be had in the second as SMF-Seabridge won a fastbreak-athon against Subway/Coca~Cola in which the teams combine to score 207 points.

Leo “no need to pass” Itass continued his dominance on the courts with 26 points and six boards while Gary Cayetano put up 12 and pulled down seven for SMF-Seabridge to lead their team to a 108-99 victory.

SMF-Seabridge was on the losing end early as Edwin Soriano scored seven in the first quarter to give Subway/Coca~Cola a slim 25-23 advantage. They quickly turned the tables on their foes when Itass caught fire by scoring nine and Jimmy Sison added six of his 14 in the second to take a 50-45 lead.

SMF-Seabridge extended the lead to seven in the third when Itass tallied another six points and Giovanni Pardinan hit for eight of his 18. As they headed into the fourth, SMF-Seabridge caught a scare when Darius Salvani hit from all over the court to score 11 of his 17 points for Subway/Coca~Cola–including a bomb from beyond the arc. Salvani was the only one with much luck, as SMF received scores from eight players in the final quarter to finish with a nine point advantage.
