DPH issues list of referral health care services
The Department of Public Health has released a list of all health care facilities, health care providers, and ancillary care providers for the Commonwealth’s medical referral patients.
Public Health Secretary James U. Hofschneider said the rules and regulations have been amended since last week to govern the administration of the medical referral program as originally published in the Commonwealth Register Volume 27 in March.
The following health care facilities and services are recognized to be “referral health care facilities” for medical referral patients from the CNMI:
For the U.S. territory of Guam, they include the Dededo Polymedic Clinic, Espaldan Clinic Inc., Family Medical Clinic, Good Samaritan Clinic, Guam Memorial Hospital, Guam Pacific Medical Clinic, Guam Seventh Day Adventist Clinic, Specialty Clinic, The Doctor’s Clinic, Cancer Institute of Guam, Naval Hospital Guam, MR Imaging Group, Guam Eye Clinic, Guam Public Medical Clinic, Simard Cardiology Group, and Guam SurgiCenter.
For California, the health care facilities are: San Diego Children’s Hospital, California Pacific Medical Center; Good Samaritan Hospital, Los Angeles; and Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
The lone health care facility approved for CNMI referral patients in Texas is the Laurel Ridge Treatment Center of San Antonio
In Hawaii, the list includes the Kapiolani Medical Center, Kuakini Medical Center, Queen’s Medical Center, Rehabilitation Hospital, Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children, St. Francis Medical Center, Straub Clinic and Hospital, Cancer Institute of Maui, Renal Treatment Center, Island Cardiology, Tripler Army Medical Center, and Kahi Mohala
In the Philippines, the DPH has approved the Makati Medical Center, St. Luke’s Medical Center, Philippine General Hospital, and the Asian Hospital and Medical Center.
Hofschneider noted that the referral to California Pacific Medical Center would only be authorized for infant heart surgery, kidney transplant, or other highly sophisticated surgical procedures as substantiated and approved by the Medical Referral Committee.
