The Japan-Saipan Travel Association, in cooperation with the Marianas Visitors Authority, will conduct its annual clean-up drive in central Garapan next Saturday.

JSTA president Hideki Sakai said the cleanup would cover the Garapan square block—starting from Hyatt Regency Saipan, Remington’s, Winchell’s, all the way up to the fire station along Beach Road.

Volunteers are requested to be at the Paseo de Marianas police station by 8:45pm. The cleanup will begin at 9am.

MVA will provide information dissemination and logistics, including cleaning materials and water and ice for the volunteers. The tourism agency will also arrange with the Division of Parks and Recreation on the trash disposal.

MVA managing director Vicky Benavente also assigned MVA staff members Hiroko Tenorio and Frank Tudela to coordinate with JSTA regarding the cleanup. “On behalf of the MVA, I wish to thank you and the JSTA members for your untiring efforts to keep our islands clean and beautiful,” Benavente told Sakai in a letter.
