BANMI, NMASA meetings this week
The Basketball Association of the Northern Mariana Islands and the Northern Marianas Amateur Sports Association will hold its monthly meetings this week at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium conference room.
BANMI officials meet at 5:30pm today as officials will convene to discuss issues on ongoing and upcoming leagues sanctioned by the sports body, including the Saipan Rotary Summer Youth Basketball League scheduled to start tomorrow.
Also up for discussion are the ongoing Masters Basketball League, the upcoming Budweiser Cup, and the development of women’s basketball.
Meanwhile, NMASA will hold its meeting tomorrow at 6:30pm, with officials focusing on the upcoming Palau South Pacific Mini Games this month.
The CNMI will sport competitors in tennis, beach volleyball, wrestling, swimming, softball, baseball, athletics, outrigger canoeing, triathlon, and table tennis.
The Mini Games opens on July 25 and concludes on Aug. 4, featuring competitors from around the Pacific region including New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, Fiji, American Samoa, Niue, Tonga, Vanuatu, Kiribati, Norfolk Islands, Samoa, Wallis and Fatuna, Solomon Islands, Guam, CNMI, Marshall Islands, and host Republic of Palau.
