Manila’s concert king to perform here on July 10
Saipan audiences will finally see the Philippines’ concert king, Martin Nievera, for a one-night-only performance in what is anticipated to be this year’s biggest concert event.
“A Night to Remember with Martin Nievera” will be an evening filled with the music that Nievera is known for—hits from Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and other great singers, ballads and songs that Nievera himself composed and popularized.
The concert, which is a fundraising event for the Northern Marianas College Foundation, will be held on July 10 at the Hopwood Junior High School Amphitheatre. Gates will open at 5:30pm. According to the organizers, it is a “Concert on the Grass” and concertgoers are welcomed to bring beach towels or mats to sit on.
Tickets are now available at $15 for adults; $12 for children 7 to 12 years old, while children 6 years and below will get in for free. Only a limited number of tickets will be available at the gate on the day of the show for a higher price of $20.
Tickets are now on sale at Pacific Trading, Saipan Tribune, Western Union, IT&E, all Joeten stores, all Shirley’s Coffee Shop locations, Jollibee and selected Mobil gas stations.
“Bringing a world-class performer to Saipan is just one of the fundraising activities that the Northern Marianas College Foundation is sponsoring this year to raise more income for the college,” said NMC Foundation president Jerry Tan.
A busy week for the foundation, the organization is also hosting the NMC Foundation Open golf tournament tomorrow, July 2, at Laulau Bay Golf Course. Both events will benefit Northern Marianas College.
Since the Hopwood Amphitheatre is expected to host a large audience, concert organizers said security will be tight at the venue and bags will be inspected upon entry to ensure the safety of concertgoers. No video cameras and outside food or drinks will be allowed. A choice of food and beverages will be sold inside the concert premises.
“A Night to Remember with Martin Nievera” is being presented by Pepsi, the Tan Holdings Foundation and Continental Airlines.
