Local tournament donates funds to NMIVA
Following the completion of the 6th Annual Coors Light-Four Person Beach Volleyball League at the Pacific Islands Club, the Marianas Cup Beach Volleyball Festival donated a portion of the proceeds to the Northern Marianas Islands Volleyball Association upon the San Antonio sand court Mecca.
PIC Sports, Entertainment, and Activities director and tournament coordinator Jon Cramer presented NMIVA president Mark McDonald with a check for $500 in an effort to show support for the local governing body of bumps, sets, and spikes.
“PIC is proud to host the region’s largest volleyball event and hopes that the donation to NMIVA will help the current and upcoming players continue to grow and become more competitive in international events like SPG and the Marianas Cup,” said Cramer.
Currently the top players of the association are busy preparing to represent the CNMI in the 2005 South Pacific Mini Games in Palau next month, as Donn Dunlop, Nan Intharaluk, Mili Saiki, and Melissa Halaby compete in the two-player beach volleyball competition. Fellow NMIVA member and local standout player Gabriel White will be making the journey to the Mini Games as a basketball referee, but will also serve as an alternate player for the volleyball delegation.
